The East End Art Guild of Puerto Rico
The East End Art Guild was founded in January 1999 by Diane Cutter and Jaymee Weinreich. Artists and art supporters from Caguas, Humacao, Luquillo, Ceiba and Fajardo joined in an inspiring gathering to partake in the initial planning stages of the new art organization. Now the Guild boasts over 70 members, including supporters in the San Juan area, the United States mainland, and Canada.
The purpose of the East End Art Guild is to cater to the community on the
East end of the island through exhibition opportunities, networking, exchange
of ideas and information, sponsorship of art and art related workshops and
support of general artistic growth. The Guild has organized a number of exhibitions,
both juried and non-juried, on the east end of the island, as well as in Caguas
and San Juan.
The Guild mails out a monthly newsletter with information about exhibitions,
announcements of art workshops, local art services, and other relevant information.
Monthly meetings are held the third Saturday of every month. The meetings
begin with a half hour for socializing, and after a discussion of Guild business
and future plans, participants are invited to show their work. Paintings,
drawings and other media are shown, both finished and in-progress. There may
be discussions or demonstrations of skills and techniques that are important
to artists.
The East End Art Guild's strongest asset is the diversity of its members.
These include beginners, professionals, Spanish and non-Spanish speakers,
artists of all types of medium, in addition to those who wish to get involved
in promoting the arts.

Gremio Artístico del Este, una organización sin propósitos
de lucro, fue fundada en enero, 1999 por Diane Cutter y Jaymee Weinreich.
Artistas y aficionados del arte de Caguas, Humacao, Luquillo, Ceiba y Fajardo
se reunieron para planificar una nueva organización artística
Actualmente la organización cuenta con màs de 90 mienbros, entre
ellos, residentes del àrea metropolitana, Estados Unidos, las Islas
Vígenes, Canadà y Europa.
El propósito principal del Gremio es formentar el desarrollo y reconocimiento
de todas las artes en Puerto Rico mediante exhibiciones, medios de comunicación,
intercambio de ideas e información, prétamos de libros y videos,
patrocinio de las artes y de talleres y estimular la creatividad y el talento
artístico. El Gremio ha organizado series de exhibiciones con o sin
jurados en àeas del este, Caguas y San Juan.
Ademàs, la organización mantiene una carta circular mensual
para mantener a todos los miembros informados de todas las actividades y de
otras informaciones de interés.
Reuniones mensuales se llevan a cabo el tercer sàbado de cada mes y
estàn abiertas al público. Las reuniones incluyen discusiones
sobre los estados de cuentas del gremio y de planes para el futuro. Los participantes
muestran sus traboajos par recibir opiniones y críticas postivas de
sus colegas.
El punto más fuerte del gremio el la variedad de sus miembros. Incluye
principiantes, profesionales artistas de habla inglés o español,
acuarelistas, fotógrafos, medios tales como pinturas al óleo,
músicos y todos los que desean participar. El Gremio Artístico
del Este se dedica a promover las artes, educación en artes, y a estimular
el crecimiento individual de artistas en Puerto Rico.
